The short answer: It is an urgent global problem with social, economic and environmental consequences, resulting primarily from our reliance -- and the reliance of the businesses we support -- on fossil fuels like coal and oil.

Earlier this year, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a group of hundreds of the world's foremost climate scientists, concluded for the first time that global warming is "unequivocal" and that human activity is the main driver. Most scientists believe that we have an approximately 10-year window to significantly reduce our global warming pollution if we are to avoid the most dangerous effects of global warming.

There's a lot you can do every day to fight global climate change, and our friends at many dedicated organizations, such as Clean Air-Cool Planet, provide great information.

But you also have the power to make choices and raise your voices to motivate business to take action to fight climate change, and that's what Climate Counts is all about.

RenewUs and the film that started it all

Climate Counts evolved out of a movie we produced in 2006 when our organization was known as RenewUs. That movie, A Crisis Averted, received widespread media and critical acclaim and showed how individual consumers can collectively change companies, markets, and history.

Please watch the movie anytime by clicking one of the links in the box above and to the right. We hope you'll continue to draw inspiration from it, as we do.
